Inquirer’s Class

This six-week class is for newcomers and prospective members. Topics covered include an overview of CMPC, our various ministries, and the Reformed Faith. Taught by Pastor John Batusic in his study during the Sunday School hour. For more information, contact John at 770-967-3440/ext.111.

Inquirer’s Class Objectives
It is our prayer that each participant will have:

  1. A clear understanding of the basic gospel message of reconciliation and redemption through Jesus Christ.
  2. A basic understanding of CMPC’s mission, vision, ministries, doctrinal distinctives and government.
  3. A knowledge of the steps for church membership.
  4. General ideas on how and where to get involved in the life of CMPC
  5. Some new relationships with others at CMPC.

Process of joining CMPC

  1. Pray for the Lord’s wisdom and guidance in the important decision.
  2. Participate in our CMPC Inquirer’s Class to gain further introduction and information.
  3. Complete a membership information form.
  4. Interview with our Session of elders—to get to know you better, to hear about your faith in Christ, to answer any questions you have, and extend you a welcome into our church community.
  5. Applicants are formally received by taking vows before the Session. If you are a member of another church we will gladly write for a letter of transfer.
  6. Baptism, if you have not yet received this sacrament.
  7. New members are introduced to the congregation usually during the morning worship service of the first Sunday of the month following their completion of the Inquirer’s Class.

What about our children joining?
Your children may also be received into membership as a non-communing (and baptized if they have not been already). When your children are around 12 years of age, we encourage families to have them participate in our Communicants class. The class lasts three weeks and is for youth and children preparing for church membership. We'll explore what Scripture says about God, salvation, and what it means to be a "communing" member of the Lord's Church. Your children should participate in this class, profess faith in Christ, and be received into full communing membership before partaking of the Lord's Supper.
