John Batusic, Pastor. After graduating from West VirginiaUniversity and Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, John served at River’s Edge Presbyterian Church in Hopewell, Virginia before coming to CMPC in 1987. In 2007 John and his wife Becky celebrated their twentieth anniversary of ministry at CMPC. Passionate about the Great Commission, John has participated in mission journeys to Croatia, Honduras, Jamaica, Philippines and Romania and he is also the Chairman of the Missions Committee of Georgia Foothills Presbytery. John and Becky have two sons, one daughter-in-law and two grandsons. Contact John at 770-967-3440/ext. 111.
Ben Phillips, Pastor of Ministries. Ben and his wife Rebecca came to CMPC in 2005, when Ben was installed and ordained as CMPC’s first assistant pastor. Ben now serves as our associate pastor. In addition to helping lead Sunday morning worship, Ben teaches during the Sunday Evening Bible Hour. His other ministries involve areas of administration, Christian education, discipleship and church media. He has participated in mission journeys to Bulgaria, Croatia and Mississippi. He also serves on the Christian Education Committee of Georgia Foothills Presbytery. Ben is a graduate of the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg and Reformed Theological Seminary-Charlotte. Kennedy Smartt, Chaplain to the Community. Kennedy is involved in teaching, visitation, evangelism, and mentoring and he also coordinates the LifeSouth blood drives held regularly at CMPC. He pastored three churches before later serving as Coordinator of Church Relations for Mission to the World and Coordinator of Evangelism for Mission to North America. He was among the contributors to the book The Pastor-Evangelist and he is the author of I Am Reminded: An Autobiographical, Anecdotal History of the Presbyterian Church in America. Kennedy has also served as moderator of the PCA General Assembly and the Georgia Foothills Presbytery.Kennedy holds degrees from DavidsonCollege, Columbia Theological Seminary and AmericanUniversity of Biblical Studies. He and Mary have been married for more than 50 years and have four children and five grandchildren.
Richard MacLagan, Minister of Music. Richard MacLagan, Minister of Music. Richard and his wife Susan celebrated their twelfth anniversary of ministry at CMPC in 2009. Richard graduated with a B.A. in Music with proficiencies in Directing and Trumpet, and has an eclectic taste in music. Richard gives leadership to all levels of our music ministry and assists the pastoral staff with preparing our worship services. An avid golfer, Richard also enjoys playing and coaching soccer. He has participated in a CMPC mission journey to Jamaica and Mission Camp. The MacLagans have four children. Contact Richard at 770-967-3440/ext. 113.
Mike Owens, Minister to Children. An ordained PCA ruling elder, Mike was installed as CMPC’s first minister to children in 2006. Mike has led several mission journeys to Glen Allen, Mississippi. He is a graduate of BluefieldCollege, where he pitched for their baseball team. Mike shares his love for baseball with children by regularly coaching local teams each spring. Dee Hammond, Minister to Students. Dee and his wife Katie were on staff with Campus Outreach in Birmingham, Alabama prior to coming to CMPC. Dee is a graduate of WestGeorgiaUniversity and is currently working towards his Master of Divinity through Reformed Theological Seminary-Atlanta. Dee has gone on mission journeys to Mississippi, Jamaica, Peru and the Philippines. Dee and Katie have three daughters. Contact Dee at 770-967-3440/ext. 112.
Jessica Roth, Youth Ministry Assistant. In addition to helping Dee Hammond with the overall youth ministry, Jessica oversees the discipleship of our middle and high school girls and is part of the Cornerstone Youth Worship Band that ministers to the youth on Wednesday nights. Jessica has participated on mission journeys to Jamaica, Peru, the Philippines and Mississippi. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia. Contact Jessica at 770-967-3440/ext. 118.
